In
early 1985 I was hunting with a friend of mine in north Morehouse Parish.
At the time it was owned by Metropolitan Life Insurance Co and was in very
rundown shape, but had an extremely large population of ducks. Over the
next 3 years my friend and I developed part of the farm into an exceptional
duck hunting spot. (Our original blind is still the most productive on the
farm). In 1990, Met Life sold us the land and Slackwater Farms was born.
Slackwater Farms is a true duel purpose farm: Active commercial grain farm
and hunting venue. Equal emphasis is placed on farming and habitat restoration
and improvement for game species. |
